The beginning...

I've been an advocate of open source for some time and yet I've never thought to apply this to the creation of my music. Sure, I've released free music multiple times, but that's the completed article or "binaries", never the "source code" or... basically the music files, in this case in Bitwig..

Slipdrive seems like the perfect candidate for this as there's very little audio, it's mostly plugins so it can easily just be turned into code and uploaded to github.

I'm hoping to bring "release notes" out with this, ie: What I did and why, here on this blog as a record of what the process is like. With this current release it's the initial commit where I search out the tracks I've done, clean them up a bit and put them on github.

So there's a few up there now in various states of completion.

Where's the github repo?

Some rules:

  • This is a trust thing from my side please don't download these, fiddle with them and release them as your own tracks... that's rude.
  • If you can't get these to run in your bitwig because x plugins are missing, don't ask me for them. If you don't own them I can't help that.

In order to grab these and use them you'll of course need Bitwig and lots of plugins which you may or may not have. But the basics will be there.
